The board of appeals shall consist of five members appointed by the mayor, and approved by the city council. Each member shall serve for five years or until a successor has been appointed. The mayor shall appoint, subject to approval of the city council, at least one alternate for each board position. Alternates shall sit when regular members are not available.
Upon receipt of an appeal, the code administrator shall notify the chairperson of the unified board of appeals. The appeal shall be heard no later than 15 days after receipt of the appeal. The appellant shall be notified of the time and place of the appeal hearing.
