On Tuesday, March 26, 2024 the Brownwood City Council unanimously approved the Downtown Master Plan completed by Freese & Nichols. Freese & Nichols along with City of Brownwood staff presented the final version of the new downtown plan for adoption. The downtown master plan process provided analysis, surveys, public engagement, City Council workshops, and public comment.
The City Council voted to adopt the Downtown Plan at their 3/26 meeting.
The full plan draft was available from 2/26 to 3/18 and public comments and feedback were collected. Feedback received during this public comment period will be provided to City Council as they consider the plan for adoption.
The City of Brownwood held an open house at the Brownwood Lyric Theatre on February 26th, 2024 from 8 AM to 10 AM to review the new Downtown Master Plan. The event provided the first opportunity for the public to view the draft of the full Downtown Master Plan. City of Brownwood staff and the Freese and Nichols design team provided a formal presentation at 8:30 AM followed by a panel Q&A discussion and the ability for participants to talk on-on-one with staff and team members.
Members of Downtown Brownwood Inc were invited to join us at the Lyric Theatre, there was a presentation by the consultants followed by an open house with input activities and discussions. Interviews with individual stakeholders to discuss the future of Downtown.
A community survey was open for the month of May to collect initial input from community members and understand the community's vision for Downtown.
Tabling at this well attended community event to raise awareness, engage community members, and direct people to take the community survey.
Meetings with the boards of the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Brownwood Inc organizations to discuss the future of Downtown.
Meeting with the Brownwood City Council at the outset of the project to understand goals, needs, and expectations.
