Effectively manage and support tasks and personnel specifically organized under the Public Works Department and assist all other City Departments, as required, so as to provide Brownwood Citizens

Public Works consists of several departments that provide a variety of services for the city. Public Works Department organizational responsibilities include:
- 911 Addressing
- Floodplain Management
- Fleet Management
- Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Landfill
- Management and oversight for Engineering Support
- Planning and Zoning Department
- Solid Waste Services
- Sewer utilities
- Street
- Water and Wastewater Departments and Facilities
