The Brownwood Regional Airport had a total of 480 lights installed covering 2 miles on the airport taxiway that was repaved in 2022. These L-853 lights are what the FAA refers to as retro-reflective, meaning they are not only reflective but are also LED. They are aluminum alloy, can withstand 25 tons of psi, and are visible from distances greater than ½ mile. The funding for this project was through the RAMP (Routine Airport Maintenance Program), which is a 50/50 grant split between the state of Texas and the City of Brownwood. The total cost of the project was $40,911.
