Brownwood City Manager Emily Crawford received the 2023 Woman of the Year Award at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce 117th Annual Membership Banquet held Thursday, September 7 at the Brownwood Coliseum.
“Emily has shown incredible leadership as City Manager and continues to move the organization in a positive direction,” said Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes. “I couldn’t be more proud of her and her accomplishments that benefit the entire community.”
Emily has served as Brownwood City Manager for over 8 years and previously held the positions of Assistant City Manager and Economic Development Director for the organization.
Emily graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Wellness Promotion from Texas State University in 2000 and obtained a Master’s Degree in Organizational Development from Abilene Christian University in 2021. She completed the Public Executive Institute from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, UT Austin, in 2015.
Emily serves on the Brownwood Education Foundation Board and Brownwood Community Church. She also is active in the Texas City Management Association (TCMA), where she has held several roles including Region 3 Vice President and President, TCMA Director-at-large, Membership Committee Chair, and Allies Committee member.
Emily and her husband, Scotty, have been married for 27 years. They have two adult sons and a daughter-in-law.
