During the regularly called Brownwood City Council Meeting held on Tuesday, February 8th, The Arc of Brown County on presented a $100,000 donation to the City of Brownwood for the purpose of creating all-play or inclusive play components at Allcorn Park.
The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
The organization desires for the funds to be used at Allcorn Park for all-play, or inclusive play park equipment. The Arc of Brown County would also like to see a fence constructed along the street near the border of the park for better safety of children playing. Plans for a mural spot were also included in the donation.
City of Brownwood staff will also explore other opportunities for improvements at Allcorn Park by leveraging additional funds in upcoming City and BMDD budgets, as well as possible grant opportunities.
The project will begin in the 2022-23 fiscal year.
