City Council

The City of Brownwood is divided into five (5) wards. (See City of Brownwood Ward Map) The council shall have the power to change the boundaries of the wards from time to time as it shall deem expedient so that there shall be approximately an equal number of electors in each ward.
 
The city's governing body shall be composed of the mayor and five (5) councilpersons. Each councilperson shall reside in a different ward. All of them shall hold their office for the term of four (4) years and until the election and qualification of their successors. The councilpersons shall be elected in odd-numbered years; two councilpersons and the mayor shall be elected in even-numbered years. The mayor and the councilpersons shall be elected by the direct ballot of the entire city. (More on the City of Brownwood Municipal Government)
