The Brownwood Regional Landfill excavation and construction of the new 14/16 Landfill cell is now complete. The excavation of the new cell began in October 2022 and the timeline to finish the project was set at one year. The new cell is 22 acres in size with 2,764,100 cubic yards of available fill at an estimated 14.5 years to fill completely. The project was paid for with the use of bond proceeds and was completed last week with the first day of use of the cell on Tuesday, September 5th.
