The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce paid tribute to the city’s most passionate residents and businesses during its 113th annual banquet.

The City of Brownwood received the 2019 Community Partner Award, and was highlighted by the following statement:

"The City of Brownwood’s goal is to promote health, safety, and quality of life for its citizens, but the City Council and City Staff have taken that goal to the next level.

In recent years, Council has approved many projects to enhance the lives of Brownwood residents including multiple park improvements, street improvements, improved resources to fire and police departments and much more.

But more than that, it is the people who interact with the public each day that is at the heart of this recognition. The City of Brownwood has been a true community partner when dealing with the public and assisting in community events, taking time to help beautify the community, offering support to other organizations, and the willingness to listen and help move the community forward.

In recent years, the City of Brownwood staff has adopted the philosophy of ‘I SERVE’ which stands for Integrity, Service, Excellence, Respect, Vision and Empathy. The individuals at the City embody these traits in dealing with those around them to help create an environment that is beneficial to residents, businesses and visitors alike."
