Local businesses along with the City of Brownwood and Brown County United Way come together for a “mask up” campaign.
TexasBank, Hendrick Medical Systems, Landmark Life Insurance Company, Waldrop Construction, City of Brownwood, and Brownwood Municipal Development District have purchased and plan to distribute 4,000 masks to residents of Brown County for free. The Brown County United Way is also partnering with these entities to assist in distributing them throughout the community.
The initiative comes after Governor Abbott issued an executive order to wear masks in all public places in hopes to keep businesses open.
The spread of COVID-19 can be reduced when cloth face coverings are used along with other preventive measures, including social distancing, frequent hand washing, and cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. The 4,000 masks will be given away for free to the community. Donations to the Brown County United Way will be accepted to help offset contribution shortfalls experienced by the agency as well as the underlying 17 local not-for-profit agencies that it helps to support.
